I had done rims of another wood before, but this one uses alternating hickory and black walnut for the rim on a maple base. Since the orientation of the grain on the rim is tangential to the bowl, it catches the light differently than the rest of the wood. Maple with hickory and black walnut rim. 8.5″ x 3″
