$30k in donations reached!

Thanks to all the generous donors we have now generated over $30,000 in donations to local food banks from bowls. This is exclusive of the over $5,000 in other donations in honor of Bowls for Food. Wow! Thanks also to the guest turners who gave their work to the last batch which generated over $2,500. They are boxed up and will be shipping shortly.

Guest Turners

Several woodworkers and bowl turners have reached out to me to ask if they could donate some of their work to Bowls for Food. I responded to the first three who were close by and collected these 25 bowls. Big thanks to Dan Crafton, Thurston Tarter, and Eric Weinstein for donated their work for this next batch.

So many fans!

ABC World News Tonight with David Muir picked up the story from WCVB and added to it. The result? So many fans the web site went down again. Hopefully I have beefed it up enough to withstand all the enthusiasm. In case you missed it, you can watch the video here:

How do I get a bowl?

The response from recent press has been truly overwhelming and I am beyond humbled by the interest in my work. Before you write or try to get a bowl, Please read the Frequently Asked Questions to learn how it works.

  1. Find an available bowl. It will include a recommended donation amount. Add it to your cart and check out.
  2. Once checkout is complete, make a donation to the food bank or food pantry of your choice.
  3. The checkout process will include an email with instructions on where to send the receipt

Due to overwhelming demand I cannot take requests or reservations. If you would like to be notified of when new bowls are available, follow us on Facebook or join the newsletter here.

Just in time…

Just in time for the end of the year, I’ve released five new bowls. There are some more, but I am offering them to the people who gave me the trees they came from. It’s so nice to make something out of a tree that has meaning to someone.

Took a break

2021 has not been terribly productive for me when it comes to BFF. I had to spend some time on my main studio, including a renovation there, and some art projects. As the world reopened, I also spend a lot of time at kids sports. All of which kept me away from the lathe. I’m back with a small batch of four bowls. Thanks everyone.

What holiday?

Thanks to a big push and a matching donation, December became a very busy month here at BFF. I ended up making more than thirty bowls and you donated another $7,000 for the hungry, and all that is before the match, which was another $2,500!

I’m going to slow down production a little, as I need to recuperate and catch my breath. I’m also going to invest in a dust collector, as sawdust seems to be clogging everything around me, including my brain.

Fear not, however, as I will still be making more bowls. I have a lot more wood to turn, and there are a lot more hungry people out there.
